Postinfectious Intravascular Thrombosis with Gangrene after Penicillin Injection

Abstract
Cyanosis, hemorrhagic bullae and gangrene on buttock, extremities and lower abdominal wall
following intramuscular penincillin injection in children with infectious disease are a rare condition,
and "postinfectious intravascular thrombosis with gangrene"has been applied for this disease entity.
The mechanism is still unknown, but the diffuse vasculitis with arterial spasm intraarterial throm
bosis seems to be causes penincillin injection may act as a trigger mechanism in the evolution of an
underlying allegric vascular disease.
We reported already 2 cases of above disease. Now we re-experienced one case. One patient died
of concurrent severe pneumonia and 2 patients lost right feet due to dry gangrene.
